INDUSTRIAL-MANAGED: CLOUDBERRY CM-1608FC4-EPTAP SERIES

Product Description

The Cloudberry CM-1608FC4-EPTAP series

Managed Industrial Ethernet End-Point Tap (EPTAP) Switch with 4x 10/100/1000BASE-TX (RJ-45) + 4x 1000BASE-X combo ports (SFP fiber ports or 10/100/1000BASE-TX (RJ-45) ports), with advanced filtering capabilities

The Cloudberry CM-1600 EPTAP is a filterable Network End-point Tap device that connects to an operational Ethernet switch. The operational Ethernet switch provides data streams from multiple data sources at an egress port. The mirror port actively duplicate packets and provides them to the filterable Network End-point Tap. The filterable Network End-point Tap allows to reduce and split the data stream received from the operational Ethernet switch by using advance filtering techniques.

The Cloudberry CM-1600 EPTAP offers integrated fully managed switch capabilities for 8 (10/100/1000BASE) Gigabit Ethernet ports.

The switch functionality in the CM-1600 EPTAP series offer full management based on HTTP, telnet, CLI or SNMP. Network Redundancy is achieved based on MSTP/RSTP/STP (IEEE 802.1s/w/D) protocol. The unit offers a wide operating temperature range: [-40°F to 158°F] / [-40°C to 70°C].

The End Point Tap function uses egress filtering to control packet flow from all the switch ports. Every port can be individually controlled and a high number of filters can be configured per port. Traffic can be blocked or allowed to pass based on the filter criteria.

Several predefined choices are available from the drop down list. Selecting a pre-defined value will affect the mask and the Filter index.

Figure: GUI Example

Specify Index: Set the index manually

UDP Dest Port: Filter on UDP destination port

UDP Source Port: Filter on UDP Source port

UDP Source and Destination: Filter on both UDP source and Destination port in the filter

IP Source: Filter on IP Source address

IP Destination: Filter on IP Destination address

Features
Filters can be specified anywhere in the packet.

Filter size 32 bit
Per port configurable mask such that the filter is configurable from 1-32 bit. 1024 individual filters per port with a total of 8192 filters for all 8 ports.

Ethernet Packet Time Stamp Insertion Capability
The CM-1600 EPTAP can be provided with the capability to provide time stamp insertion into the tapped packets. The position of the time stamp is configurable and the time stamp can be inserted at any index in the packet above byte index 32, or at the end of the packet such that the packet length is increased. If the time stamp is inserted in the end of the packet the packet will be 64 bits longer than the unmodified packet. For scenarios where the whole bandwidth is not utilized the time stamp may be inserted in the end of the packet. In high bandwidth applications may need to place the time stamp at another index in the packet to avoid congestion.

The CM-1600 EPTAP is equipped with an IEEE1588 PTP Grandmaster Clock (GMC) and Slave Clock implementation which is used for time stamp generation at the tap level. Time Stamping of Mirrored Data becomes critical if the tapped data is not directly sent to a recorder or the recorder is not capable of performing precise time stamping of the data packets. In order to provide the highest accuracy it is necessary to time stamp the tapped data as close to the source as possible, in order to allow precise analysis of the data.

The CM-1600 EPTAP provides the capability of time stamping the data close to the wire and the time stamp for the tapped data is inserted by a time stamp module. The Time Stamp Module inserts the time stamp in the packet, either in the packet header or in the packet payload. The time stamp represents the "time" when the contents of the data packet (in the data packet) is considered to be generated at a sending node from which the tapped data originates. The 64 bit time stamp is inserted on egress into the selected index.

More information on packet time stamping can be found here.

Key Features

The Cloudberry CM-1608FC4-EPTAP series – Managed Industrial Ethernet End-Point Tap (EPTAP) Switch with 4x 10/100/1000BASE-TX (RJ-45) + 4x 1000BASE-X SFP ports, with advanced filtering capabilities
